He knows I would KILL him if he called me Baby Doll

Attention, Men:

The following is a list of the names you have applied to me in a professional setting in the past month:

Sweetheart
Baby Doll
Little Lady
Sugar
Cutie
Honey
Darlin'

Unless you are married to me, you should probably stop calling me these names. I'm not 12. And this isn't the '50s.

  1. And quite creepy for these men to address you with these familiarities if you were a 12 year old girl. Unless of course, he was your daddy. And only your dad. Cheers!

  2. Here, here. I got called "darlin'" once and gave him the dirtiest look ever he never talked to me again. Which I was totally okay with. Anyway, there is an award for you over on my blog! Come check it out!

  3. It entirely depends on who is doing the calling... If I'm on the phone with a vendor who sounds like an olderly lady and maybe from the South, she can totally call me "hun" or "sweetie" or whatever and I won't scream profanities and hang up.

Otherwise? I would totally not be responsible if my leg made accidental, forceful contact with your genitalia.

  4. I try to overlook some of it, because we're in the south and I work with a lot of good old boys. But some of them really cross the line, and they do it when they are supposed to be doing what I say.

    So, no, definitely not.

  6. I get these old sweetheart guys who come into my work and call me honey and sugar and trouble (somehow it's the same). They're always so nice to me and you'd think I was their granddaughter the way they say it, so I'm ok with it. I'm Not ok with the ones who are demeaning about it, but thankfully I have this whole Firm attitude that makes it claer I will be nice as can be while firmly telling you to Mind your Place.
